Commissioned by Rem Koolhaas for the last Architecture International Venice Biennale (2014), the two videos - separated but complementary - represent two stories of a lonely resistance in reaction to the waste of the G8 affair embody on the Island of La Maddalena. The first one explores the question of failure in architecture narrated by architect Stefano Boeri. In July 2009, the island of La Maddalena would had hosted the G8 summit, but in April of the same year the event moved to L'Aquila. The complex of the former arsenal, in part designed by Boeri, was gradually abandoned and today is polluted and off-limits. In the second video, we meet Mauro Morandi, who lives from more than twenty-five years as the solitary guardian of the island of Budelli, true earthly paradise. Using what the storms and tides spill onto the beaches, he creates objects, sculptures and furniture, including La Maddalena Chair, made of wood and pieces of Murano glass from the facade of the former arsenal of La Maddalena.
